RMS Olympic Steinway Association

As you will read on the next page, part of Chris's work as a Maritime Historian involves sitting on the Executive Board of Directors of the RMS Olympic Steinway Association as Deputy Vice President. The Association's main goal is to purchase, preserve, and display the Steinway piano that was installed in Olympic's A La Carte Restaurant during the 1912-13 winter refit (Chris is pictured with this very piano on the left).

To assist with this endeavor, Austrian musician and President of the RMS Olympic Steinway Association Patrick C. Vida founded The White Star Line Quintet in October 2024. Since the Quintet was formed, several pieces of music from Titanic's era have been recorded. In The White Star Line Quintet section below, you will have a taste of what they have been working on this past year. Get ready for a big treat!

About the Quintet

The White Star Line Quintet is presented to you by the RMS Olympic Steinway Association to support their ongoing endeavor to purchase and preserve the Steinway piano from Olympic's A La Carte Restaurant.

Founder Patrick Cornelius Vida has been a Titanic enthusiast for around 30 years and is a lover of the early 20th century era and its music. For too long there has been no “tangible” ensemble specializing in the repertoire of the White Star Line, which at the time comprised at least 360 pieces of music. The quintet would like to fill this gap in order to bring the elegance and exhilaration of the era of ocean voyages back to life for people all over the world.
